“Remembrance Node”, Urban Park at Rome’s Fiume Tevere

Academic Work, Critic Carolina Vaccaro, Graphite and Colored Pencil

Produced within Carolina Vaccaro’s Design Studio at Temple University Rome and underpinned by a growing interest in Landscape Urbanism, this project set about staging an urban park composed as a network of ramping/vertical circulation paths, gathering nodes and retaining wall excavations in order to stitch together the loosening urban fabric between the city and its river. This sketch portrays one such confluence of circulation paths, transverse excavated tunnels and a remembrance node, knotted at the site of a ruined bridge as depicted by the beige portion of the structure.
